Afternoon city tour visiting Fort St. George, built by the East India Company in 1653 and St Mary's Church, the first English church in India. Overnight at the hotel. Day 02 - Chennai - Mysore An early morning train from the Chennai Central Station to Mysore. On arrival transfer to Hotel. Afternoon visit Srirangapattanam and Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace. Overnight at the hotel. Day 03 - Mysore In the morning sightseeing tour visiting the Mysore Palace, an extravagant building in the Indo-Saracenic style, Chamundi Hill and Nandi Bull. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. Day 04 - Mysore - Ooty Morning drive to Ooty A short train ride on the "toy train" takes to Coonoor, a pleasant town surrounded by tea gardens. On arrival transfer to Hotel. Day 05 - Ooty - Cochin Morning , drive through rural landscape brings you to the port city of Cochin. On arrival transfer to Hotel. Evening enjoy a Sunset cruise to see Chinese fishing nets. Overnight at the hotel. Day 06 - Cochin Morning city sightseeing tour of Cochin becomes evident when you visit the Jewish Synagogue, built in 1567, housing the Grand Scrolls of the Old Testament and the Dutch Palace, with its 17th century murals of the Ramayana. Also visit St Francis' Church, where the Portuguese sailor Vasco da Gama was first buried. Evening visit a Kathakali performance, a traditional dance of Kerala. Overnight at the hotel. Day 07 - Cochin - Kumarakom Morning a short drive to Alleppey where we enjoy a cruise on the famous backwaters to Kumarakom. We stay the night at the Backwater Ripples, overlooking the Vembanad Lake. Afternoon free to explore Bird Sanctury or go for Aurvedic massage . Overnight at the Houseboat Day 08 - Kumarakom - Periyar Morning drive up the "ghats" on a scenic route dotted with plantations of rubber, cardamom, cocoa, green pepper and arecanut. on arrival transfer to Hotel. Rest of the day free. Overnight at the hotel. Day 09 - Periyar In the morning visit the nearby plantations. We later enjoy a boat ride on Lake Periyar to spot herds of wild elephants. Rest of the day free for independant activities. Overnight at the hotel. Day 10 - Periyar - Madurai Morning drive to Madurai, the 2000-year-old capital of the Pandyans, on arrival transfer to Hotel. In the afternoon visit Meenakshi Temple, a grand display of Dravidian architecture, with profusely carved "gopurams" or gateways, the tallest reaching 160-ft. Overnight at the hotel. Day 11 - Madurai - Kanyakumari Morning drive to Kanyakumari, the Southern most part on India where Indian ocean, Arabian sea and Bay of Bangal Confluence together . Witness the sunset. Overnight at the hotel. Day 12 - Kanyakumari - Kovalam Morning drive to Kovalam , the finest beach in South India. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. Day 13 - Kovalam Day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. Day 14 - Kovalam Day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. Day 15 - Leave Kovalam In time transfer to Trivandrum Airport to connect flight for onward destination. |
